Dear Friend:

Uptown Neighborhood Initiative was founded in 2010 and is a grassroots, not for profit collaborative of neighbors and other interested parties from throughout Corpus Christi, whose mission is to revitalize Uptown Corpus Christi. To date, UNI has removed 23 tons of trash from the streets, mowed and trimmed 20 acres of overgrown, abandoned lots, and demolished five blighted buildings, including the Cantu Funeral Home and the Melba Theater, at no expense to the taxpayers…entirely by donations from supporters like you.

The 2015 Good Neighbor Awards Benefit for Angela Rowe Leal is our effort to help one of our members, Angela Rowe Leal, who recently lost her husband and has small children at home. Angie was a Good Neighbor Award recipient in 2013 for her support of the UNI. At the time, Angie was the City of Corpus Christi PRIDE Committee Director.

The Good Neighbor Awards Benefit honors those citizens who’ve made a difference in the revitalization of Uptown Corpus Christi, and proceeds benefit Angie and her family. The event features Reverend’s Daughter band, singer Cheyenne James of American Idol, fabulous appetizers and drinks by the House of Rock, and a real way to give back to a neighbor in need. Please consider supporting UNI’s Good Neighbor Awards Benefit for Angela Rowe Leal with your sponsorship or by purchasing a table or tickets. Thank you for being a “Good Neighbor”!

Best personal regards,
Darlene K. Gregory, Chair
